Visit to the Greek Atomic Energy Commission

The School of Health Sciences organized an educational visit to the Greek Atomic Energy Commission as part of the educational activities for the Radiology/Radiography program.

The students had the opportunity to visit the Commission’s facilities and specialized laboratories, where they participated in an organized tour and received detailed information on modern radiation protection systems and methods. The EEAE’s specialized staff presented practical applications and procedures followed for the safe management of ionizing radiation.

The briefing covered important scientific fields, such as the Standardization Department, the Dosimetry Department, the Environmental Research Department, and the Department of Chemistry and Food Safety, offering students a comprehensive overview of the Commission’s activities and role.

Of particular interest was the two-hour presentation and discussion on ionizing radiation, led by Mr. Oikonomidis, which reinforced the participants’ theoretical training with valuable practical knowledge.

Ms. Dales organized and coordinated the educational visit, playing a decisive role in the successful implementation of the initiative.
